Bio statement

Ms. Greenwood’s is a doctoral student in the inaugural cohort of the Nursing Science and Health Care Leadership program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Her research interests involve the use of health IT including electronic medical records, personal health records, telemedicine and mobile health to improve access to care for people with and at risk for diabetes and to identify innovative practices that improve outcomes for our diverse and aging population. She is also interested in the application of technology to advance nursing education. Ms. Greenwood graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Nursing and from Boston College with a Master’s degree in Education (curriculum development, instruction and administration). She is a certified diabetes educator, Board certified in advanced diabetes management. Ms. Greenwood began her career at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and today serves as the Program Coordinator for seven Sutter Health affiliate diabetes self-management education/training programs in Northern California. She assures that national standards are met to achieve and maintain program recognition by the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. As a diabetes clinical specialist she is responsible for program development, staff development, quality assurance projects and outcomes research within the Sutter Medical Foundation system. She serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
