Abstract
Background: According to the Millennium Development Goals Monitor, Mexico would not improve maternal health and achieve MDG goals by 2015 unless some changes are made. Maternal mortality ratio in Mexico is 60 (per 100,000 births), 5 times higher than the ratio for Canada (12 per 100,000 births).
Objective: E-health applications for mobile devices represent an option for monitoring and give feedback to pregnant women. Nevertheless, digital divide and digital literacy problems should be address first. This paper explore the available data on access to informational and communication technologies and make an assessment for an e-health intervention.
Methods: The paper apply data mining techniques for research digital poverty, targeting female population on maternity ages to Mexico's 2010 Population Census.
Results: (in progress)
Conclusions: A proposal for evaluating e-health models to combat maternal mortality is made.
