Background: Most screening instruments for common mental disorders feature long sentences and difficult wording. We have developed an easy-to-understand, web-based visual screening instrument called the Trimbos Visual Screener for Common Mental Disorders (TVS-CMD). It screens for depression, anxiety, problem drinking and suicidal tendency and is aimed at adults with various education and reading levels.
